The beginning of the year has begun and the South Bay Anchor caught up with Paul Meyers, South Bay’s principal and superintendent. Here’s their story.
“The beginning of the year has been going great and I love this school!,” Meyers said. “The best thing that has happened at school so far is last year's A.P.I (academic performance index) score, because the middle school scored 819. “Our score in the middle school has increased by 70 points, which is the largest gain in Humboldt County.”
“I think the middle school likes the computers and the school have settled in well. At the beginning of the year I thought we would have more people but I was wrong which is not a bad thing but still.”
"There is always room to improve at this school, like improving the playground. That is how the beginning of the year is like for me”.
The South Bay Anchor also interviewed 7th grader Arianna Giovanetti to see how the beginning of the year has turned out for her. Here’s her story.
"The beginning of the year has been very very good!" she said. "The good things that have happened this year are that I have been getting my homework done with all the help I need from the teachers."
"The computers in middle school are great so far and I love how it makes working on homework easier."
She added, “I was excited and nervous at the beginning, and now that I know it is not as bad as I thought. I am ready for the rest of the year to come."
